Tips to Make Yourself Jump Higher

Being able to jump higher is essential in basketball, you can’t avoid it. This could be the key to having a successful career in basketball, because jumping is almost required in every aspect. You need to be able to block passes or shots, and hook or dunk. Basically if you can’t jump good, then you might not be very valuable to your team.

So how exactly is it possible to jump higher? It’s very easy to understand the concept, work out those muscles and you will jump higher. The problem that you will find is that these are complex muscles, and they require unique exercises. The muscles you use to jump can be made significantly stronger and bigger if you exercise them. The muscles that you will use to jump are the dorsi flexors, the calf muscles and the majority of your leg muscles.

The dorsi flexors can be worked out by putting pressure on the balls of your feet. Here are a few things you can do to work this out: walk around on the balls of your feet, or stand on raised ground like stairs and then relax your feet on the floor.

Calf muscles can be easily worked on by running on incline or doing some simple calf raises.

The muscles of your leg can be worked out by doing suicide runs. Most coaches will run this exercise with their b-ball players so that they can make them jump higher. In this exercise you have to start from the baseline of a track and run 15 feet. Then you’ll need to stoop and touch the ground with your finger-tips. Complete it by running to the baseline. You’ll keep doing this, adding 15 feet each time till you hit 90 feet.

Another thing that you should do is get a program that will teach you the fundamentals of vertical explosion. A good program that will do this is Jump Manual by Jacob Hiller. If you are serious about increasing your vert, I recommend you read the Jump Manual review.
